You’ve heard the saying “if you’ve got it, flaunt it” and there is no better place to do just that than on the beach. Obviously there are a ton of swimsuits on the market that are fun and adorable, but if you’re really looking to impress, the season’s hottest swimwear trend is right up your alley – lingerie-inspired swimwear!
Taking hints from its sexy bedroom cousins, many swimsuits are starting to resemble lingerie. Granted, the trend isn’t for the faint of heart, but even if you’re looking to stay fairly covered and just add a bit of sex appeal to your look, there is a boudoir-inspired bathing suit out there to meet your needs.
Bra Tops & Bustiers
This season, bras tops and bustiers have been seen everywhere from the runways to the sand. Although it might sound intimidating, this style can actually be very helpful in flattering your figure. The molded underwire cups help to lift and define ‘the girls’, and depending on the length of the top, they can also help balance out longer torsos. Whether you prefer bikinis or one-piece swimsuits, a style with a bra top or bustier lends both support and sex appeal.
In addition to bustiers, there’s also a surefire return of corset detailing and styling in both the fashion and swimwear worlds. A number of swimwear designers are now incorporating sexy lace-up corset detailing in the back of their one-pieces and cropped swim tops. Great for evoking that bodacious boudoir look at the beach!
Another huge trend right now is lace – both actual lace and lace-inspired prints and patterns. Bold beachgoers are gravitating toward lace-trim bikinis, typically in triangle top and cheeky Brazilian bottom silhouettes, and they’re loving how the lace doesn’t dig in. Women who are more on the conservative side, however, may prefer something a bit more modest simply featuring a lace-inspired print. Although most are done in classic black/cream/nude colour palettes, there are some more colourful options on the market today as well.
Similar to lace, mesh is frequently used in lingerie and today’s hottest swimwear designers are incorporating it into their beach designs as well! Sexy mesh panels can now be found in bikinis, monokinis, classic maillots and cover-ups. Not only does lightweight mesh help make the suits a bit lighter and breezier, but it also adds some seductive sex appeal thanks to the semi-sheer nature of the fabric.
This season, lingerie is no longer just for the bedroom. Rock the lingerie-inspired swimwear trend and get your flirt on!
