A couple of months ago I ran a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for my first bridal collection. Although I didn’t raise as much money as I’d hoped, it was still enough to buy some truly gorgeous fabrics such as these beautiful laces and guipure appliqués.
I’ve been busy sewing for the past couple of weeks and still have lots more to do, but I’m so excited about this collection that I couldn’t wait any longer to share a few sneak peeks! Here’s a little something that’s still ‘under construction’ but I think it’s going to turn out to be my favourite piece:
As an independent designer, creating a new collection is very costly and unfortunately I couldn’t afford to do both a bridal and a non-bridal collection, so I’ve combined the two! The final collection will consist of 18 pieces; 9 in a bridal white, cream and gold colour palette, and a boudoir version of each piece in black and silver.
I couldn’t find all the fabrics I wanted in both black and white, but luckily I got to practice my fabric-dyeing skills for The Lingerie Addict last week. The French Maid choker straps from my spring 2013 collection have been incredibly popular (on a side note, I only have enough lace to sew a handful more of them!) so I wanted to incorporate something similar into this collection. I found these gorgeous embroidered collars in white and dyed half of them black:
I spent last weekend hand-pleating and beading the trim for these gorgeous items, although I won’t reveal what they are just yet!
And last but not least, a little sneak preview of something I’ve finished sewing up today. They’re high-waisted knickers, but with a twist. Hint: it involves the collars above – can you guess what they’ll look like?!
There’s still a lot of work left to do, including some of the more intricate and difficult items, but I’m hopeful the collection will be finished and ready to launch by mid- to late-November. Keep an eye out on Instagram and Twitter where I’ll be sharing a few more sneak previews until then!
