Splurge or Save? Escora vs. Nearer The Moon Oceanic Tulle Bra

by Estelle Puleston

I don’t know about you, but when I was a child I wanted to be a mermaid when I grew up. I got really into scuba diving for a while, but it’s not quite the same lugging all that gear around instead of diving in wearing just a couple of clam shells. Though maybe I should have swapped my wetsuit for this awesome Buttress and Snatch Shell bikini!

Anyway, for those of you who’d rather live out your mermaid dreams on land, I’ve just stumbled across two absolutely gorgeous bras with more than a little Disney’s Ariel about them.

Nearer the Moon’s Hidden Depths is a new release, handmade from turquoise satin topped with gathered tulle in a couple of different sea-greens, and with glittery elastic trim and straps. Sizing runs from a 30D-36DD which is not bad for a handmade brand.

Escora (a new discovery of mine, and one I absolutely plan to buy from very soon) has a beautiful ‘Mahée Schalen’ bra, which translates as ‘Mahée Shells’ – so definitely some seaside inspiration there even if the embroidery appears to be floral. It has various shades of waterfall blue and sea-green in there, also with some gorgeous sheer, gathered tulle across the cups. Sizing runs from 32B to 38D.

So which bra to go for? Escora’s Mahée Schalen is the cheaper one right now thanks to their sale but was actually about the same price originally, so it’s possibly better value for money. It would also be my personal choice simply because I love all things lace and that multi-coloured embroidery is divine.

But I think they’re both awesome, and Nearer the Moon’s Hidden Depths bra also comes in a quarter-cup version which works really well with the sheer tulle overlay and which I think would look amazing on. Especially with crystal pasties!

Which of these two bras is your favourite one?
