Anita is a brand that specialises in functional lingerie that is as stylish as it is practical. You may recall the name from last month’s article on stylish mastectomy bras, which featured three of their styles, but that’s not all they do. Anita also create sports bras, high-support bras, maternity bras and nursing bras, always aiming for the perfect fit and a premium level of comfort.
I wish this brand had been more on my radar when I was pregnant with my son three years back. I’ve never tried any Anita bras myself, and that’s because I more or less skipped maternity/nursing bras altogether. I struggled to find ones that fit with my pre-pregnancy sense of style and didn’t look utilitarian, so I made do with a couple of cheap eBay purchases for the 6 or so weeks I breastfed my son and then threw them out.
I’ve since discovered some wonderful maternity options and were I to get pregnant again now, I could definitely see myself picking up Anita’s fun Polka Dot wirefree nursing bra in both the bright blue and black colourways. This is the kind of bra I’d probably keep on wearing long after switching to formula milk too, because it just looks great!
The Miss Ribbon and Fleur bras too are a prettier-than-usual nursing options, the pocketed versions of which both featured in the mastectomy lingerie article I mentioned. The Miss Ribbon bow print is fun and flirty, available in a graphic black and grey or a sweeter cream and taupe. Fleur is the sort of subtly-lacey bra that makes for a great everyday option without sacrificing style.
The Fleur bra also comes in a choice of two colours – black or berry, a taupish mauve – and also in two very different styles. You have the choice of a supportive underwired bra, or a wirefree, triangle-cupped bralette. I know bralettes are now a go-to style for many people, so it’s great that there’s a nursing version out there! Anita gives expectant and nursing mothers a range of options, and if simpler, plainer bras are your thing then they make those too.
The lovely people at Anita are offering one of my UK readers a Fleur nursing bra set as pictured above, in their choice of black or berry and the wired or wirefree styles. The underwired bra is available in a huge size range – 30 to 46 band sizes and C to J cups. The wireless bralette is available in 32 to 38 bands and A-D cup sizes. Please note that certain band and cup size combinations may not be available so check the product links for your size. Matching briefs are available from a UK 8 to 20.
