Lucky for me, I received a piece to review! I don’t often foray into basques, but I was drawn to the lacy bottom and push-up effect of the Seduce Me basque and thong set (plus-sized version here), and I’m quite pleased with this addition to my boudoir.
Appearance: 8/10
I love the combination of black and blush pink. The pink ribbon down the front elongates the torso and emphasizes the hourglass figure, and the lace across the top of the cups complements the cleavage. Each detail adds to the sex appeal of the piece, which I love! I also like that the garter straps are removable – this is a little detail that goes a long way for me, as I wear hold-up stockings more than stay-ups.
I love the oversized bows, too. While bows aren’t for everyone, I generally think they add to a piece, and this basque is no exception. My biggest complaint is that the back is boring – apart from the bow on the g-string, and the lace hanging from the bottom of the basque, the back is plain black fabric.
Construction: 7/10
For the price of this set, I’m impressed with the quality. The nylon fabric is soft and comfortable. As with many basques I’ve come across, however, I find that the boning in the bodice sticks into me a bit. This might be a result of my short torso and it’s not extremely uncomfortable or a deal breaker, but it is something to note.
As pictured in a few of the photos, there are some loose threads, and the stitching wasn’t always amazing quality. The application of the bow to the thong was particularly messy.
Fit: 8/10
I was pleasantly surprised by the fit of this! I’ve mentioned in previous reviews that, as a 32E cup, it’s rare that S/M/L sizing fits me well. But the size Medium basque actually fits me around the cups and it provides an impressive push-up effect. Granted, the cups are a bit small, which further emphasizes my cleavage – not necessarily a bad thing! It does push some of my breast tissue out of the cups, toward my arms, however this isn’t very noticeable, and overall I’m pleased with how it fits. The combination of underwire and moulding makes this piece flattering for me as someone with a larger bust.
I’m a UK size 8/10, and the size Medium g-string fits perfectly. I wear the basque with the back hooks on the tightest setting, and it fits well around the bodice. The website’s sizing chart states that the size Medium should fit a UK 10-12, which seems accurate, as putting the hooks on the loosest setting adds a few extra inches.
Value for Money: 8/10
At £34.99 (€44.95 on the EU site, $39.99 on the US site) this piece is well-priced for what you get. It’s retro, sexy and playful all at once, and the material is comfortable. Right now, on the American website it’s on sale at $25, which is a steal.
Would I recommend it?
Yes! Lingerie-lovers with larger busts will be pleased to know that this piece actually fits well in the cups. Smaller busted people, however, may want to watch out: if the size Medium fits me (albeit tightly) as a 32E cup, then anyone smaller than a 32D may find it difficult to fill or have limited push-up.
