I hope you’ve been enjoying my Christmas lingerie gift guides, and Avigayil’s recent post with advice on how to give lingerie as a present.
But what if you’re totally clueless about sizing, worry your giftee won’t like the style you choose, or just aren’t comfortable with gifting lingerie? Or perhaps your recipient has so much lingerie already that you want to get them something a little different.
You could buy a gift voucher, but there are plenty of other, more personal gift ideas sure to be appreciated by any lingerie addict! Here are my ideas for different budgets, ordered from the lowest to highest price:
Boux Avenue scented drawer sachet, £6
Ideal as a stocking filler or Secret Santa surprise, this cute little drawer sachet (which works just as well on a hanger with chemises and robes) works to infuse lingerie with a sweet rose-petal scent.
Luxury Legs stocking gloves, £10
I wish it hadn’t taken me a few years of wearing nice hosiery to discover that these things existed, because I would have saved a fortune on replacing laddered stockings! These are a great, practical gift idea for anyone who wears delicate hosiery such as sheer tights regularly – various hosiery brands sell hosiery gloves, but I think these glossy gold ones are ideal for gift-giving.
Delicate lingerie needs special care to keep it in pristine condition. Help make hand-washing simple and fun with this no-rinse delicates wash, with a festive fig scent. This large-sized bottle will last approximately 75 washes.
Zozos Zozos personalised lingerie storage bag, £19
For the girl who can never have too much lingerie, she can definitely never have enough storage products! I’m a fan of lingerie bags because they protect your delicate pieces without taking up much space at all. You can find these priced anywhere between £5 and £50, but I’ve included this one here because the price includes embroidered personalised for that extra special touch.
Jools gold-plated bra and knickers necklace, ~£41.84
Leaving the practical gifts to one side, let’s get onto some more just-for-fun gift ideas like this lingerie-themed necklace set. The bra and knickers can be worn separately, so this could even be a chic, more grown-up version of those ‘best friend’ interlocking necklace sets we all bought for our BFFs as children!
Contemporary Lingerie Design by Katie Dominy, £64.15
A book can be a great gift too, whether it’s a hard-backed coffee table type full of beautiful imagery like this one, something a little wordier like this history of and guide to lingerie or a practical book such as The Secrets of Sewing Lingerie for the sewer who might like to make her own.
Contemporary Lingerie Design, whilst a few years out of date now, is nonetheless a lovely A-Z of mini interviews with some of the top lingerie designers of our generation.
ArtyMigglet A3 sized Boudoir print, £70
What lingerie lover wouldn’t want a beautiful, lingerie-themed artwork gracing her walls? You can find everything from the realistic to the abstract, the modern to the retro-inspired. Prices vary wildly in the art world, mainly depending on whether you’re buying a print (a reproduction) or an original work – this particular piece is available in A4 and A5 sizes too for smaller budgets.
Lingerie boudoir photoshoot – price varies
Lastly, if you know someone with lots of beautiful lingerie to show off and who’s not camera shy, why not treat them to their very own professional boudoir photo shoot? I’ve not listed a specific price because chances are you’ll want to find a photographer who’s local to you, and prices vary rather a lot.
You can find very cheap packages like this one and this one, but these typically include one small print only with the idea being that the person being photographed will spend a lot more money buying other images from the shoot. Do bear that in mind if you’re not attending the shoot with your giftee! I’d probably recommend looking for a photographer whose particular style you like rather than buying a generic ‘available at various locations’ deal.
These are my ideas but I’m sure there are more out there! If you love lingerie, what else would you love to receive for Christmas, birthdays or ‘just because’?
