Finishing up the holidays with my first and last b Finishing up the holidays with my first and last beach trip of the summer 🏖 Bikini is Sunstripes by Livystone (Livy's swimwear line). I picked this up last-minute on Vinted and thankfully got it for a steal, because while I love the design aesthetically, it's highly impractical and I'm not sure I'd wear it again! The extra widely-spaced cups are a chic look for sunbathing but in the water, I was just constantly falling out of it 🙈. This is a size S and it's a bit too small in the cup for me which probably contributed, but then again, in a larger size the fabric and overall fit would probably be even looser... I've had similarly-shaped bras by Livy on my wishlist for *years* (such as the Rooftop bra) and now I'm wondering if they'd have the same issue. I finally finished this book, Encyclopedia Provoca I finally finished this book, Encyclopedia Provocateur by @daleyxdose. Whether you're a fan of AP who wants to learn more about the brand's history, or just reminisce about its 'glory days', it's a read I recommend 👍 I bought my first little piece of Agent Provocateur around 2008 and for years after, was a regular (if low-income, sales-only) customer. I'm fairly sure it's the lingerie brand I've purchased from the most in my life, even though my last order was a looooong time ago now. Back then, it felt to me like the epitome of luxury and of innovative design and I guess I naively thought it would always be that creative/progressive. I still *like* AP, but it has lost a lot of that magic. That's why I enjoyed this book, because it transports you right back to how the brand initially began, and its step-by-step journey to becoming one of the most recognisable names in the lingerie world - i.e. back to its best years! (Also, I just learned a ton from reading it. It's an incredible resource about a very niche part of lingerie history. I love the colour but word of warning if you plan to buy it, I had to go up two cup sizes to get it to fit. I posted a progress shot in my story yesterday, no I posted a progress shot in my story yesterday, now here's the (very almost) finished thing! 🪡 This was originally a silk chemise from Sulis which, after many years of wear, shattered down near the hemline. I didn't want to just throw it away so thought I'd turn it into a cute little top to wear at home instead. I took the opportunity to change out the straps - I never liked the original ones because the hardware was too wide for the strap, so they wouldn't stay adjusted. Plus, since it's now outerwear, I'd prefer to have my bra straps covered so I made these wider ones with some of the silk I chopped away. I was careful to get the strap length just right so that the top would work with my favourite cream bra. But then it was late, I was rushing to finish, and I slotted them in where the original straps had been at the back without thinking 🤦‍♀️. So that's why it's not *quite* finished, because I'm going to move them outwards a bit so they fully cover up my bra straps. Last image is the original chemise in a photo from 2017. The Luxe set from my new @loungeunderwear review. The Luxe set from my new @loungeunderwear review. This one I adore for a number of reasons! Firstly, it's been 35-40°C here for weeks on end which makes wearing just about anything unbearable, but this bra is a completely unlined mesh which at least makes it super breathable. I also love the high-apex plunge shape, which is a great one to try if bras tend to gape on you. And finally, I just think it's pretty. For a £55 bra set, it's one I'd definitely buy again if mine wears out! I turned 35 this week. I can't say I really feel a I turned 35 this week. I can't say I really feel any 'older', at least not any older than I felt after turning 30. And yet, it's kind of wild to think that I have now been either selling or writing about lingerie for close to FIFTEEN years now. I don't usually buy myself birthday presents, but well, this year I did and one of them was this book, Encyclopedia Provocateur by @daleyxdose. I'm still reading it, but it's clear that this is a really deep dive into the early years of the brand which has got me feeling all nostalgic for those similarly-early years of my career/obsession when AP felt like the very height of luxury and I would impatiently await each new collection. (And each sale, since I was still a student!) If I could go back, I would definitely have made more of an effort to buy more of the old AP sets I still adore. And many things by other brands too of course (the Made by Niki string bodysuit!!! 😭).
