I love handmade lingerie – I love selling it, I love buying it, I love making it and I love teaching others to make it too! Last year, Maddie Flanigan of the sewing and pattern-making blog Madalynne created a set of expert lingerie-making guides exclusively for you, the Esty Lingerie fans and customers, and now this brilliant resource has been expanded even further.
Beginner Sewing Guides
Maddie’s guides are absolutely brilliant and full of useful information such as how to choose the right fabric (which can make or break a piece of lingerie) right through to which needle to choose on your sewing machine. However, you’ll probably need at least basic sewing skills to really get the most out of these guides, so I thought it would be a great idea to add some lingerie-making resource for absolute beginners – those who’ve never touched a needle and thread before!
You can check out those beginner guides here, the first of which is up already and more will be coming very soon. These easy-to-understand tutorials will break each sewing guide down into basic steps with photos to clearly illustrate each stage.
Free Knickers Pattern Download
That’s not all either – Maddie is offering a free pattern that you can download now to make your own pair of Amerson knickers like the image above! Simply print it out, cut the pattern pieces to size (the pattern is available from an XS to an XL), pin to your chosen fabric and follow the instructions to sew them together.
