It’s been quite a while since I last did a ‘lingerie/loungewear I love’ post, but I’ve not been able to stop thinking about this Apilat pyjama set since I first saw it last month.
Although I’ve never shopped with them, Apilat is a name that would almost certainly make it onto any list I made of my favourite ever lingerie brands. Their robes and nightgowns, some of which I wrote about in 2020 and 2021, are simply magical, and unlike anything that anyone else in the industry is doing. I particularly love their use of shimmer fabrics, and the way their designs appear incredibly sumptuous but also light and floaty enough that you could enjoy wearing them year-round.
After primarily focusing on robes and nightgowns for the longest time (and before that, wedding dresses), this year the sister-owned brand from Ukraine decided to branch out into pyjamas, and the designs did not disappoint. There are full-lace trousers, ostrich feather cuffs, adorable hip ruffles… More importantly though, there’s this pyjama set, which is just breathtakingly unique and beautiful.
What first caught my eye as I was scrolling social media was the double-layer hemline, featuring lace below silk that seems to have cut to resemble suspender tabs, weighed down by four ivory silk tassels to match those on the belt. It took me a moment to actually notice the lace’s pattern, but once I did, that immediately became my favourite thing about this set even more so than the unique shape!
It features a repeated motif of two dancing people in historical costume and little cherubs, seen even better on the optional matching camisole, which reminds me of various antique laces I’ve seen such as this tablecloth. Unfortunately, the website doesn’t give any information about this lace; I would love to know if it’s from one of the recognisable lace house names.
The pyjama top – which can also be bought separately and would make a lovely outerwear piece all on its own – is made from a fine, baby blue silk habotai, with gently puffed shoulders and an elasticated waist to give it more shape. The matching trousers are made from stretchy silk satin, which is more opaque.
The two-piece jacket and trouser set costs 485€ (~£415 / ~$525), plus 210€ (~£180 / ~$225) if you want to add the camisole. Everything’s available in sizes XS to XL as standard, but can also be made to measure if you fall outside that range.
What do you think of this Apilat silk pyjama set, and how/where would you wear it if you were to style it as outerwear?
