When I spotted this La Perla Java bra in this round up of unusual/unique lingerie designs on eBay, I couldn’t help but notice a striking resemblance to this Ann Summers Carmen bra that I’d been looking at just moments earlier.
The La Perla bra is on eBay and is a size 34B – there’s also a 32B and 36B available direct from La Perla in black, reduced from $458 to $274.80 (approx. £171 down from £284). It’s part of the brand’s intricately-detailed Black Label collection and features pleated chiffon that fans out from the centre where there is a beautiful bead and sequin design, with a silk-satin trim.
The Ann Summers bra is part of Giles Deacon’s second collection for the brand, and has the same chiffon overlay that’s gathered at the centre of the cup underneath an embroidered and beaded embellishment. The front sections of the straps are covered with showgirl-inspired feathers that are detachable for when they’re impractical (or if you just prefer the bra without them).
So, which is better? Ann Summers’ Carmen bra is much cheaper, but the La Perla Java bra is made from more luxury materials and to me just seems more elegant and beautiful. They’re both very showy bras, but I think La Perla has done this look in a slightly classier way and I’d be willing to pay the extra for it.
Which of the two bras would you choose to buy?
