Many independent designers and smaller brands are happy to take on custom orders. A rare few however are also willing to work with other brands to create a set that will actually fit your body type. The beauty of such collaborations resides in the fact that not every brand specialises in the same aspect of lingerie.

Designed in South Wales, Emiah by Alycia specialises in bespoke bridal, corsetry, and boudoir lingerie. I reached out to the designer in January of 2022 to commission a piece for my bridal trousseau. This began a yearlong luxury experience full of decadent textures, fantastical delights, and quiet extravagance.

There’s something particularly lovely about owning a garment that was made just for you, but we don’t all have the budget for bespoke lingerie. That’s where custom embroidery offers a nice alternative – it’s way cheaper than ordering something truly bespoke, but still feels more special than a purely off-the-rack item.

Fréolic London is a premium brand that’s focused on making the experience of buying luxurious, semi-bespoke lingerie more accessible and affordable. They offer pre-designed garment shapes that can be ordered in a (very!) wide array of colour and fabric choices.

When Impish Lee launched its customisation tool in 2015, it was a totally new concept in the lingerie world – getting to pick your own fabrics and colours, plus make design changes such as adding or removing bows, all without having to spend time communicating back and forth with the designer.
