2017 is turning out to be a year of major changes for me – all good ones though I’m glad to say! First there was the big website redesign in March, then I quit my job at the start of June to concentrate on Esty Lingerie full-time, and now less than two months later I have more news to share which is that I’m moving abroad. Barcelona, here I come!
As some of you will know, my fiancé is Spanish and I always knew that a move to Spain may be on the cards at some point, but this has still been a rather sudden and unexpected decision. It’s incredibly exciting, and I cannot wait to be living in permanent sunshine, but the next few weeks are going to be very busy and probably very stressful whilst I work out how to whittle my life down into something that will fit inside two suitcases. There are Very Important Questions to be pondered, such as which tiny percentage of my lingerie am I actually going to take with me?
As far as the blog goes, not a whole lot will be changing. I’m certainly not going to start blogging in Spanish or anything like that, and although the Spanish high-street lingerie scene has nothing on the UK, I’ve always been more of an online shopper anyway so you can still expect the same kinds of products and brands to feature. I guess you may see a few more articles on swimwear moving forwards – I’ve always posted the odd swim-themed piece on occasion, but now that I will living close(ish) to the sea I will have an excuse to actually buy the stuff for once.
In terms of the shop however there will be some more significant changes. The simple fact is that I can’t take all or even most of my stock with me, and whilst I can if necessary make arrangements for it to continue being shipped from the UK after I’ve moved, it’s not a long-term solution. So, I intend to clear out as much stock as is possible in the next few weeks, which is great news for you because yay, sale!
For a limited time, you can get 50% off everything in the shop with code HOLA at checkout. It’s my biggest ever sale which I don’t envision repeating, so go on, treat yourself and help me clear out my cupboards (pretty please 🙂 ). If you purchase a few items you may even find a free gift thrown in…
I am also having a ‘make me an offer’ sale on selected items over in my eBay clearance shop, as well as auctioning off some pieces from my personal lingerie collection there too. Next month, if I get time, I’ll also be listing excess fabrics, lingerie-making supplies, my mannequins and even my sewing machine, so keep an eye out if you’re into sewing yourself!
This doesn’t mean I’m closing down the Esty Lingerie boutique entirely. I fully intend to keep on sewing my own designs (and thanks to in-laws who used to own a clothing factory, I’ll have access to their few remaining pieces of industrial sewing equipment, which is more than a little exciting). I’ll also still be selling lingerie by other brands but it will be a much smaller selection than it is currently.
Once I’m in Spain I am going to begin posting orders from there, so this does unfortunately mean that I’ll no longer be able to offer free UK shipping. The flat-rate £4.99 delivery cost to the rest of the world will be increasing too, as the Spanish postal system is sadly rather more expensive than Royal Mail. Take advantage of the current free/low shipping whilst you still can!
And now I have to get back to sorting through my wardrobe and deciding what I am going to take – moving abroad with a case of three dresses and thirty bras is perfectly normal right?

That’s a huge announcemnt!! I’m sure you’ll love Barcelona, it’s a beautiful city! I live in Barcelona as well, so if you have any questions about the city you’re more than welcome to ask me. Also, I can recommend you some local places for buying lingerie supplies and other sewing-related things 😉
Good luck with your moving!
Aw thanks, that would be nice – I know about Mercería Santa Ana but that’s it, if there’s anywhere else I should be checking out (sewing supplies or good lingerie boutiques 😉 ) I’d love to know.
Mercería Santa Ana is ok, but a bit expensive. For general haberdashery, I prefer Casa Fèlix (https://www.merceriacasafelix.com/), it’s much cheaper, and the quality of the supplies is really good. For lingerie supplies, Cotilleria Mercé (https://www.cotilleriamerce.com/fornituras) is great, but they have only basic colours (black, white and “skin tone”). If you want to buy elastics and other lingerie supplies in bulk and with a wider range of colours, Vidal Aymerich (https://www.vidalaymerich.com/) is the place to go! For fabrics, you can go to Ribes i Casals (https://www.ribescasals.com/), but my favourite place is Els Encants, an open-air market (https://www.encantsbcn.com/en). For truly luxury fabrics you can go to Gratacós, but be prepared for the expensive prices! 😉
If you have any questions or want more recommendations, I’m happy to help! 🙂
Thanks so much, I will definitely check all of these out!
Wow, that’s exciting news, Estelle, and I wish you and your little family all the best for the move and lots of sunny trips to the beach in the near future 🙂 Greetings from Berlin, Anja
PS: A case of three dresses and thirty bras? Totally normal 😀
Thanks Anja 🙂
Wow! This sounds so exciting! Wishing you the best!
