It’s definitely winter now in the Northern Hemisphere, especially here in Scotland where temperatures are regularly dipping below 0°C come nighttime. This means that silken robes and lace styles are being overlooked in favour of warmer options. However, this doesn’t mean that you have to fully renege on feeling stylish!

Writing about lingerie and existing on the internet in various states of undress since '16. Find me half-naked IRL bumping and grinding as Luna L'étoile. Lover of avant-garde designs, vintage styling, political embroidery, and bralettes for fuller-busts.

It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of Playful Promises’ designs. They are probably one of the most prominently-featured brands in my lingerie collection, as their aesthetic and size range works so well for my taste and body type. Still, it’s been a while since I have been this obsessed with any one piece of lingerie.

After discovering how difficult it was for her plus-size niece to find stylish swimwear, Olga Caro was inspired to begin research into designing for plus-size bodies and eventually founded the company with young women like her niece as the target demographic.

In July I was lucky enough to visit Croatia and having sized out of last year’s swimsuits, I knew straight away that I wanted the Heka Swimsuit, named after the ancient Egyptian deity of magic and medicine. Priced at £35, this is an incredibly reasonable purchase for something which is made to my measurements.

Silk is one of the most popular fabrics used in lingerie design – prized because of the beautiful way it drapes over the body, alongside its soft feel and versatility. Year round, silk is a wonderful fabric to wear next to our most sensitive areas due to its hypoallergenic nature, sweat wicking properties, and ability to keep cool in warm temperatures as well as vice versa.

As a longtime fan of Playful Promises, I’ve loved seeing their name and imagery popping up in more mainstream publications. The brand has done so much work over the past few years in expanding their size range, tackling a lot of stereotypes about the lingerie industry, and collaborating with some amazing people.

I’ve been particularly drawn to the relatively new Rougette designs by Tutti Rouge, many of which are bralettes fitted by cup and back size. Ideal for someone like me who has a large cup and small back!

Beginning with a primary focus on lingerie pieces, Amoralle now describe their designs as “boudoir inspired”, which most recently has resulted in the Aristocratic Seduction collection consisting of fantastic dresses and robes accompanied by various accessories.

Mimi Holliday are an established British lingerie brand which have been heavily featured on Esty Lingerie. I have been a long-time lover of their delicate tulle and silk sets, which are often available in more expansive sizing than your average lingerie retailer.

Silent Arrow is a brand which has only recently been brought to my attention, though it was launched in December 2016. However, I’m very glad to finally be aware of them: both because I enjoy the lingerie, and also because I highly appreciate the social consciousness of Silent Arrow.
