But if you’re thinking ‘sustainable’ automatically equals expensive, and that’s out of your price range, then you’ll be glad to know that there are brands making eco-friendly lingerie accessible for all budgets.

As the global lingerie market continues to increase in value, new and potentially-major players are entering the industry, from SavageX to Zara to Amazon. So I got curious – could Amazon truly become a leading lingerie destination?

German brand AIKYOU creates timeless, minimalist lingerie for small cup sizes using regionally-sourced fabrics and ethical production standards. Their brand mission is in two parts: to create beautiful lingerie for small busts, and to do so with the highest caliber of sustainability.

Fluffy and fabulous, marabou is commonly associated with the sex kitten glamour of the 1950s as it was often seen on Hollywood stars such as Marilyn Monroe and Mae West. Since then it’s faded in and out of popularity – and right now, it’s definitely having a comeback moment.

I am delighted to be delving into my local Barcelona lingerie scene today by introducing you to another fabulous indie lingerie brand: ai!culotte by Paula Botana. This ethically-produced, slow-fashion label creates underwear which comes in vibrant colour schemes and uses fun and unexpected combinations of prints.

What to do when you want, say, a pair of sheer tights that won’t break the bank but you also want to shop sustainably? That’s where we get to the two man-made eco-friendly hosiery options I’m going to talk about today: recycled hosiery, and biodegradable hosiery.
